Drew Barrymore's children sometimes express interest in following in her footsteps in the acting world, but the actress says not until they are older.

Barrymore's daughters, Olive and Frankie, are 11 and 10, respectively.

"When I first had kids, I was like, 'Well, do you want your kids to go into business?' I remember people asking me, and this business is so toxic, it always gave me a very sad feeling,'" the actress said.

“And I just thought, that's how I feel about this business. It gave me every opportunity under the sun, and I couldn't appreciate my life more.

Barrymore, whose father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle are all actors, landed her first commercial at 11 months old and starred in 'E.T.' At age 6, films including 'Firestarter' and 'Irreconcilable Differences' followed. However, her love for Hollywood doesn't mean she's giving her daughters the green light.

“My kids always ask me -- they want to be in movies or social media or singing or whatever. I always say, ‘School plays, theater camp, everything (yeah)’.

"But being in the public eye, (not) until...' and then they're like, 'Well, what's the number?' And I always say, 'I know you want an answer, and I know the fact that I can't give you something specific that's not satisfactory, but I feel it when I think you're ready.
