Tamil film actor Ajith Kumar was the first person on the silver screen to attend the voting on Friday. He reached his nearest polling booth in Chennai's Thiruvanmiyur 30 minutes before voting began and patiently waited for the door to open.

Others were not far behind. When mega star Rajinikanth came to cast his vote at Stella Maris College in Chennai, he was mobbed for a while, but then went on to complete the formalities without any hindrance.

There is respect and courtesy in voting," said Rajinikanth. "It is our duty to vote. So please cast your vote."

Mega star's now estranged son-in-law Dhanush also cast his vote at St. Francis Xavier School on TTK Road at 8 am.

Other early voters include actors Sarath Kumar who came with his wife Radhika, Sivakathikeyan and Gautham Karthik, T. Nagar features renowned music director Ilayaraja and directors Verrimaran and Sundar C.
