Bhumi Pednekar struggles with self-confidence and turns to fashion for 'self-discovery'
Actress Bhumi Pednekar says she struggled with self-confidence while growing up and turned to fashion as a form of self-discovery.
“Growing up, I struggled with self-confidence, especially because of the pressure to fit certain beauty ideals. But instead of letting it define me, I turned to fashion as a form of self-discovery,” says Bhumi.
The actress added: "As I grew older, my relationship and understanding of beauty and fashion evolved."
Bhumi said it is no longer just about looking good or following trends.
“It's about embracing my individuality, expressing my individuality and feeling unique. Today, fashion and beauty is a medium through which I can express myself, my emotional canvas and my state of mind.
Although Bhumi gets mixed feedback on her fashion and style statement, Bhumi likes to experiment with her looks.
“I love to experiment. I want to have fun with fashion and I think I do it with my heart, so people appreciate my fashion-forward turn. It's good when I can work both ends of the spectrum - from relatable to edgy fashion. she said.
The actress further added: “People box anyone, it happened to me too. In the maximum number of films I've done so far, I've played a small-town girl and it set the impression that I could look amazing as this girl-next-door.
Bhumi loves it that way, but her fashion is about breaking that perception and showing people who she really is and how she wants to look.
"I am a young, confident Indian woman who expresses herself through fashion and enjoys the love I get for my look," says Bhumi.
