Actress Nimrat Kaur recalls the sweet memory of her film 'The Lunchbox' screening during Critics' Week at Cannes Film Festival 2013, saying it was something 'huge' and the 10-minute standing ovation.
"I was Irrfan Khan sir and the director Ritesh Batra, me and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, we all stood and took it all in. And it felt like a huge opening. It was a special memory for me. And that's it.. .. then the lights went off, I'll remember those 10 minutes forever. " shared Nimrat.
Seven films from India were part of the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival this year.
Talking about the representation of Indian films on such a wide canvas around the world, the actress, whose crime thriller 'Pedlars' was also screened at Cannes 2012, said: "We are the biggest entertainment industry in the world. It's time and it's amazing. One-of-a-kind work is coming out, all kinds of boundaries are being pushed, today is amazing. There is content."
"Anyone will be proud, I feel very proud and happy. Cannes or any other film festival is about films, entertainment and the business of entertainment. It's amazing that our work is there and I'm rooting for all the films there," she added.
For those who don't know, 'The Lunchbox' is produced by Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap and Arun Rangachari, which revolves around Nimrat's character as a single wife who starts a friendship with a stranger (Irrfan) through mistaken letters in a tiffin carrier. A stranger by a dabbawala.
Nimrat was last seen in the 2023 mystery film 'Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video' opposite Radhika Madan. The film premieres on &xplorHD channel on May 25 at 9 PM.
